· Daily handwriting instruction and practice in an entertaining, positive and supportive atmosphere
· Games, crafts, and FUN fine-motor activities designed to strengthen and improve  eye-hand coordination, fine-motor muscle control and pencil grasp
· (For1st/2nd grade camp) Helpful techniques for neatly and correctly forming upper and lowercase letters in print,  promoting proper placement and preventing reversals
· (For 3rd/4th grade camp) Review and fine-tuning of upper and lowercase print and introduction to helpful techniques for successfully forming and easily connecting cursive upper and lowercase letters
· Low teacher - student ratio to maximize time for individual teaching and group instruction
 
This class serves children who can work independently for short times in small groups. An occupational therapist referral might be a better option for children with significant fine motor or developmental delays.

           July 14th—18th, 1:00 to 2:30 for entering 3rd and 4th graders
OR
           July  21st—25th, 9:30 to 11:00am for entering 3rd and 4th graders
           July 21st—25th, 1:00 to 2:30 for entering 1st and 2nd  graders
 
Additional camps could be formed/offered to entering kindergartners or 5th/6th graders depending on interest.

Text Box: Camp tutor is Jane Hartway, owner and lead teacher of Las Manitas Montessori.  She has a passion for working with kids of all ages and is offering her tutoring services for groups (camps/clinics) and individuals.  She uses the nationally recognized Handwriting Without Tears curriculum and workbooks (www.hwtears.com)  authored by Jan Olsen and first took their workshops in early 2005.  She has since used this curriculum to teach handwriting skills to her preschool and kindergarten students as well as her own two children (ages 6 and 9) and their peers.  She is currently working toward completing her Handwriting Specialist Level 1 Certification through Handwriting Without Tears by the end of June, 2008.
